Introduced at the famous London Motor Show in 1948, the flamboyant appearance of the Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible caught the attention of both visitors and the press. Beneath the charming body were coil springs at the front, a driven rear axle with leaf springs, drum brakes and a cross-shaped chassis. The 4-speed gearbox was operated from the steering column and the standard equipment of the A90 included heater, central fog lamp, EKCO radio and adjustable steering column. The Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible was the convertible version of the Austin A90 Atlantic and was produced between 1949 and 1952. It was a four-seater convertible with a manually operated folding top. The car had a streamlined design with round wheel arches and a long hood, and was powered by the same 2.6-liter six-cylinder engine as the closed version. Like the closed version, the Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible was popular as a rally car and was used by various teams in races and rallies. The car also had a certain appeal to celebrities and was often seen as a symbol of status and prestige. Today, the Austin A90 Atlantic Convertible is a rare and sought-after car among car enthusiasts and classic car collectors. Only 7,981 units of both the Coupé and convertible were produced, of which only a limited number exist today. It is said that only 1,500 convertibles were produced, making it the most sought after and valuable model of the Austin A90 Atlantic. The cars on offer are part of a static collection that has been accumulated over the last 40 years. They are mainly in an unrestored, original but dusty condition. We have not tried to start any of the cars. We have been informed that the engines have been turned, on a regular basis, but the exact condition of the cars and the engines is unknown to us. You can inspect the cars on the viewing days for which you have to make a reservation through our ticketshop.
