Description

The DAF 600 was a compact passenger car produced by the Dutch car manufacturer DAF between 1959 and 1963. It was an important model for the company and represented a major step forward in terms of design, performance and reliability. The 1960 DAF 600 was equipped with an air-cooled 2-cylinder engine producing 22 hp. This may not sound like much, but it was enough to give the light car a good drive and a top speed of 100 km/h. What made the DAF 600 special was the Variomatic transmission system, a technology developed by DAF that offered a fully automatic transmission without gears. This made driving very easy and smooth. The design of the DAF 600 was relatively modern and streamlined for the time, with a rounded nose and wide rear. The interior was simple but functional and offered space for four people. The DAF 600 was praised for its efficiency, reliability and low maintenance costs, making it popular with a wide audience. The vehicle is considered an icon of the Dutch automotive industry. The cars on offer are part of a static collection that has been accumulated over the last 40 years. They are mainly in an unrestored, original but dusty condition. We have not tried to start any of the cars. We have been informed that the engines have been turned, on a regular basis, but the exact condition of the cars and the engines is unknown to us. You can inspect the cars on the viewing days for which you have to make a reservation through our ticketshop.
