The 1968 Dodge Charger R/T was a legendary muscle car known for its powerful performance, striking design and iconic status within the American auto industry. This 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, 4 Speed, is a unique car to behold. The current engine is a totally rebuilt 6300 CC V8 383 Cubic inch engine, but the matching number 7400 CC 440 Cubic inch Magnum engine is also included totally rebuilt. The brakes are equipped with 4 wheel drum brakes. The body is completely sandblasted and scooped. Scooping (also referred to as metallizing, thermal spraying or galvanizing) is the thermal application (spraying) of liquefied zinc, alloys of zinc with aluminum or aluminum and this on a previously clear blasted metal surface. A zinc wire or zinc powder (still rarely used) is passed through a spray gun and heated by means of a flame. The liquid metal is blown out of the gun with compressed air and applied in one or more layers, whereby the material solidifies immediately to form a protective layer that adheres well. After this the gray/light gray and slightly rough surface can be provided with a primer or color coating. This Dodge Charger R/T came to the Netherlands from Houston Texas in 1991. After a restoration of several years, the car was submitted to the RDW for inspection in 2002 and has had a Dutch registration since then. The 383 Cubic inch HP Engine has been fully restored. Below is a list of things that have been done to the car: 030 drilled and fitted with new pistons, connecting rods and all bearing parts are new. Pistons and connecting rods have been weighed out using a gram scale. Cylinder heads were floated (mopar 906 head porting) and fitted with new valve seats for unleaded gasoline. New valves, valve springs, valve seals and lifters. Compression ratio is 10.25:1 n. Camshaft Hemi purpleShaft 292°/292°. High volume oil pump. Deep sump (5.5 liters of oil) + windage tray. Steel crankshaft is balanced. Flywheel and pressure group are internally and externally balanced. Engine has been flattened, honed and blueprinted. All seals, gaskets, rubbers, hoses, etc. are new. All wiring and electrical wiring is newly installed. New carburetor Holley 750 CFM Vacuum Secundaries. Bumpers and rosettes completely re-chromed. Windows all around professionally tinted. All stainless steel moldings polished. Dashboard wiring has been completely redone. Dashboard has been blasted and powder coated. Dashboard is partially covered with leather. The radiator is a 3 row (finned) radiator for extra cooling. Normally it is 2 rows. All brake parts are newly installed. All wishbone and other rubbers are polyurethane. It has adjustable wishbones Tubular control arms to better adjust Camber and Caster. The transmission shifts fine. It has a Hurst Shifter. The clutch is a McLeod racing Prostreet type.
