Description

This 1951 Ford Vedette was marketed from 1948 to 1954 by Ford SAF (Ford Société Anonyme Française), Ford's French subsidiary. Although the Vedette was designed entirely in Detroit, based on the Mercury models of the time, the car was presented at the Paris Motor Show. The model offered here was powered by a 2.2-liter V8, known as the Aquilon. This made the Vedette the only French car with a V8 engine. In 1950 the car received a stiffer chassis and a thorough facelift followed in 1952 with a one-piece windshield, better shock absorbers and brakes, a redesigned interior and a larger trunk. This Vedette found itself in drivable condition. It was a popular family car at the time, and represented an affordable option for families looking for reliable mobility. As such, the car was designed with practicality and comfort in mind. The horizontal, chrome bars in the grille give the car a distinctive character. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
