The 1938 Peugeot 302 is a wonderful example of the interwar period, a time when the French automobile industry was driven by elegance and innovative engineering. The Peugeot brand, with a history dating back to the 19th century, has always had a strong reputation for sophisticated design and technical advancement. Introduced in the late 1930s, the 302 was known for its aerodynamic lines, inspired by the streamline trend popular at the time. This influence is evident in the streamlined front end and the handsome integrated headlights behind the grille - a detail that was ahead of its time.
This particular Peugeot 302 has been registered on Dutch plates since 1981 and comes from a private collection, which adds to its exclusivity. The car was roadworthy for an extended period of time, but has not seen the road since. This means that maintenance will be required before this 302 can hit the road again. However, it speaks to the fact that the car managed to retain its original details during that time, including the interior that still exudes the charm and craftsmanship of the 1930s.
The 302 was powered by a 1,758 cc four-cylinder engine, which, with its modest performance at the time, nonetheless impressed for its smooth handling and reliability. Peugeot built its reputation in part on models like this one, which offered both comfort and solidity to their drivers. The car was designed for long drives across the French countryside, with its smooth-running suspension and reliable powertrain.
Exempt from road tax and MOT requirements, this Peugeot is an attractive property for the enthusiast who values originality and historical heritage. The preservation of many original details allows for a pure driving experience as intended in the 1930s. Although there is work to be done to get this classic car back on the road, the future owner will be rewarded with a unique driving experience and an unmistakable eye-catcher, full of nostalgia and French flair.
In order to get a good idea of the car, we recommend that you come to one of the viewing days.
