The 1959 Edsel Corsair is one of the most fascinating symbols of the American auto industry, a story of ambitious dreams and the reality of a changing market. Edsel was the brand Ford launched to fill the gap between their popular models and the luxury Lincoln series. Named after Edsel Ford, the son of founder Henry Ford, the brand was presented with much fanfare in 1958. The Corsair was one of Edsel's top models and represented Ford's ambition to bring together progressive design and powerful performance. With its distinctive grille and distinctive, streamlined lines, the Edsel Corsair was instantly recognizable on the road.

The year 1959 was the last year of production for the Edsel Corsair, however, as the market reacted differently than expected. Sales were disappointing, partly due to the different styling and partly due to an unhappily timed economic recession. This unfairly gave Edsel a bad reputation, but that very fact has ensured that these cars are now collectors' items. The 1959 Corsair stands out for its flamboyant 1950s style - it was a time when the auto industry was all about daring and showing off. The iconic grille, affectionately called "horse neck" by some, gives the car a unique look. Today, the Edsel Corsair is seen as an example of the bold choices that the auto industry dared to make at that time.

Under the hood is a V8 that guarantees a smooth and powerful ride, typical of the luxury American sedans of that era. The automatic, known as the "Teletouch Drive," operated the transmission with buttons on the steering wheel - a progressive concept that reinforced the Corsair's futuristic image. While it may not have become the commercial breakthrough Ford hoped for, the Edsel Corsair has become an icon that perfectly embodies the culture of the 1950s. It is a car that tells a story of hope, innovation and the risks involved in the pursuit of something completely new.

For collectors and classic car enthusiasts, the 1959 Edsel Corsair is a special find. It is a car that evokes both admiration and nostalgia, with its distinct style and history symbolizing a misunderstanding between manufacturer and consumer. Yet it is that very history that makes the Edsel so intriguing; it is a piece of automotive history that offers a glimpse of the lofty expectations of a bygone era. A ride in this car is a trip back in time, to an era when the American dream was running at full speed and anything seemed possible - even a brand like Edsel.

To get a good idea of the car, we recommend coming to one of the viewing days.
