Specifications
Description

The 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda is a model that has more than earned its reputation as an iconic classic. This elegant roadster, part of the W113 series, was introduced in 1963 as the successor to the 190SL and 300SL. The model owes its nickname "Pagoda" to the distinctive shape of its hardtop, reminiscent of the curved roofs of Eastern temples. Although this example does not have a hardtop, it does have an integrated soft top, which allows the car to be transformed into an open convertible with a simple operation - ideal for sunny drives on country roads or along the boulevard.

Mercedes-Benz was known in this period for its advanced technology and unparalleled build quality, and this 230SL clearly reflects that. Under the hood is a 2.3-liter six-cylinder inline engine with mechanical fuel injection, good for 150 horsepower. At the time, this engine was praised for its smooth running and reliable performance. Combined with the automatic transmission, this Pagoda offers a relaxed driving experience that comes into its own both in city traffic and on longer distances.

The handling of the 230SL was considered innovative at the time. The car was equipped with an independent rear suspension and an advanced braking system, which ensured stable handling and predictable steering. These technical features made the W113 one of Mercedes-Benz's most beloved classic convertibles.

In the interior, the timeless character of this roadster is immediately apparent. The dashboard, the classic clocks and the large, slim steering wheel give the driver the feeling of stepping back into the 1960s. The materials, such as the chrome and sturdy upholstery, show the craftsmanship that characterizes Mercedes-Benz to this day. The available soft top is practical and easy to operate, making it possible to switch between a closed and open driving experience within moments.

This example features Dutch registration, which greatly simplifies the administrative process for new owners. The 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda remains a beloved car among collectors and enthusiasts, thanks to its combination of stylish simplicity, reliable engineering and comfortable driving experience.
