Description

The 1979 BMW 635 CSi is a coupé that exudes pure class and sportiness. Belonging to the iconic E24 generation, this model was introduced as the top model within the 6 Series and was one of the most coveted gran turismo’s in its time. BMW combined a powerful engine with a sleek, timeless design and an interior that was both luxurious and driver-oriented. The 635 CSi was known for its impressive performance and refined handling, making it perfect both on the Autobahn and on winding mountain roads.

Under the long hood is a 3.5-liter six-in-line engine, one of the best engines BMW built at the time. With an output of 218 horsepower and smooth power delivery, this powerplant offered a perfect balance between performance and convenience. Combined with rear-wheel drive and a manual or automatic transmission, the 635 CSi delivered a driving experience that was typical of BMW: direct, powerful and with an unmistakable mechanical character.

The design of the E24 remains to this day one of the most recognizable and beloved BMW designs. The sharp ‘sharknose’front, the long hood and the perfectly proportioned body gave the car a sporty but at the same time chic appearance. BMW managed to make the design timeless without unnecessary embellishments, which is why the 635 CSi is still considered a style icon today, more than forty years later.

The interior of the 635 CSi was typical BMW: high-quality materials, a minimalist but functional dashboard and a driver-focused design. The sports seats offered perfect support for long drives, while the finish and craftsmanship were of a high standard. This was a car that was not only meant to be driven, but also to be enjoyed – whether you were gliding down the highway at speed or driving leisurely through town.

In addition to its stately appearance and luxury, the 635 CSi also had an impressive motorsports history. This model was used in several touring car championships, including the European Touring Car Championship, where it proved its speed and reliability. The sporting genes of the 635 CSi can therefore be felt immediately on the road: a sharp chassis, balanced weight distribution and an engine that is always ready to perform.

This 1979 BMW 635 CSi is a driving piece of automotive history. With its characteristic six-in-line, timeless design and sporty handling, it is a classic that still impresses. Whether you're looking for a stylish youngtimer for long drives or a collector's item with a rich history, the 635 CSi remains one of the most desirable coupés of its era – a car that makes a statement both on the road and in the garage.
