Description

The 1949 Talbot Lago T26 Saloon was among the last generation of luxury French cars built under the direction of Anthony Lago. Talbot had built a strong reputation for sporty and elegant models in the 1930s and 1940s, with the T26 being known for its powerful 4.5-liter six-in-line engine. This type was produced in limited numbers and came as both a sporty Grand Sport and a more comfort-oriented saloon, with this version focusing on refinement and space. The T26 featured a manual transmission and had a chassis that could accommodate bodies from several French coachbuilders.

The car was positioned at the top end of the market at the time, aimed at customers who sought performance and comfort in one package. Production of these models remained limited, partly due to high costs and the changing economic climate in postwar France. The Talbot Lago T26 was known for its rich finish and technical refinement, including independent front suspension and powerful drum brakes all around. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend you come to the viewing day.
