Description

This 1948 Lincoln Twelve (model year 1948) represents a special moment in the marque's history: the final chapter in Lincoln's traditional luxury line, where comfort, tranquility, and refinement were more important than quantity or trend. This model is among the last Lincolns powered by a V12 engine, marking the end of an era that traces its roots to the pre-war Zephyr and Continental models.

What makes this example exceptional is not only its rarity, but above all the way it has been cared for. For the past thirty years, the car has been used exclusively for weddings and formal occasions. It has never been used as a daily driver, for classic car tours, or club gatherings, never stored wet or dirty, and always carefully stored in a heated garage. The Lincoln was driven by a regular chauffeur familiar with the character and technology of this type of car. All this has resulted in a condition that is clearly the result of long, consistent enthusiast ownership.

In the past, the car was completely disassembled down to the foundations and rebuilt, with the utmost attention to technical accuracy and preservation of originality. No expense was spared on maintenance or overhauls. All this work is extensively documented. The engine was completely overhauled approximately 10,000 kilometers ago and has been used carefully ever since. Over a period of thirty years, a comprehensive mileage history has been compiled. The current odometer reading is approximately 60,000 miles, of which approximately 20,000 kilometers have been driven in the past decades.

The interior also reflects this philosophy. Sections of the upholstery that had been damaged by sunlight have been meticulously restored, with a conscious decision to retain characteristic original elements. For example, the original hand cords and the cord behind the front seat are still present. Even the original trunk mat from 1948 has been preserved. These are details rarely found today and enhance the car's authenticity.

The Lincoln is richly equipped according to the standards of its time. The hydraulically operated windows underscore the luxurious character, while the factory-installed electric overdrive is an exceptionally rare and highly desirable option. This overdrive functions correctly and is supported by available documentation and operating instructions, significantly enhancing driving comfort.

The accompanying documentation folder is extensive and carefully compiled. In addition to original booklets, it contains historical background information on Lincoln and the Twelve line, technical specifications, explanations of special features, and additional photographs of previous work. This folder provides insight not only into the car itself but also into the care and attention with which it has been maintained over the years.

Practically, everything you would expect is present: the spare tire is included and properly stored. Throughout its entire lifespan, the car has been treated with extreme care and respect, resulting in a Lincoln that not only looks impressive but also drives convincingly.

This Lincoln Twelve is therefore no ordinary classic, but a rare, well-documented, and lovingly preserved example, originating from a true enthusiast. A car for the collector who values history, authenticity, and quality. Viewing during the viewing day is strongly recommended to experience the condition, documentation, and finish for yourself.

To get a good impression of the lot, we recommend attending the viewing day.
