Description

This 1948 Lincoln Twelve (1948 model year) represents a special moment in the brand's history: the final piece of Lincoln's traditional luxury line, in which comfort, quietness and refinement were more important than numbers or trends. This model is among the last Lincolns to be powered by a V12 engine, marking the end of an era rooted in the prewar Zephyr and Continental models.

What makes this example exceptional is not only its rarity, but especially the way it has been handled. For the past thirty years, the car has been used exclusively for weddings and representative drives. It was never used as a daily vehicle, for vintage rides or club meetings, never put away wet or dirty and always carefully stored in a heated garage. The Lincoln was driven by a regular driver who was familiar with the character and technology of this type of car. All this has resulted in a condition that is clearly the result of long-term, consistent loving.

In the past, the car has been completely disassembled and rebuilt down to its foundation, with maximum attention to technical correctness and preservation of originality. In the process, maintenance or overhaul has never been skimped on. All this work is very extensively documented. The engine was completely overhauled approximately 10,000 kilometers ago and has been carefully used ever since. A comprehensive mileage history has been built up over a period of thirty years. The current state is approximately 60,000 miles, of which about 20,000 kilometers have been driven in the past decades.

The interior also reflects this philosophy. Parts of the upholstery that were affected by sunlight have been restored with great care, with a conscious decision to retain characterful original elements. These include the original hand cords and the cord behind the front seat. Even the original trunk mat from 1948 has been preserved. These are details that are rarely found anymore and that enhance the authenticity of the car.

The Lincoln is richly equipped to the standards of its time. The hydraulically operated windows underline its luxurious character, while the factory-supplied electric overdrive is a particularly rare and highly desirable option. This overdrive functions correctly and is supported by available documentation and operating explanations, which greatly enhances driving comfort.

The accompanying documentation folder is extensive and carefully compiled. In addition to original booklets, it contains historical background information on Lincoln and the Twelve line, technical specifications, explanations of special features, and additional photographic material from previous work. This file provides insight not only into the car itself, but also into the care and attention with which it has been managed over the years.

Practically, everything is present that one would expect: the spare tire is included and properly stored. Over the entire period of use, the car has been treated extremely sparingly and respectfully, resulting in a Lincoln that not only looks impressive, but also drives convincingly.

This Lincoln Twelve is thus not your average classic, but a rare, well-documented and lovingly preserved example, from a true enthusiast. A car for the collector who values history, authenticity and quality. Viewing during the viewing day is strongly recommended to experience the condition, documentation and finish for yourself.
